    Dear colleagues, dear friends,

Three online teaching presentations, held by Adam Blanning MD, will be paired with interdisciplinary small group discussions about the cases.  Anyone who is working with patients is welcome to take part!

The main meeting language will be English, with simultaneous translation into Mandarin, Spanish and German.  Information on times, prices and registration can be found in the flyer.  (CLICK for flyer)

    What is it about?

In collaboration with Ita Wegman, Rudolf Steiner finishing the book "Fundamentals of Therapy" ("Grundlegendes für eine Erweiterung der Heilkunst") as one of his final tasks before his death in 1925. The book is an open secret – difficult to read if you approach it like a usual book of factual content, but profound when understood as a guide to process, constitution and states of being.

That doorway opens wider when we work with it in group study. Through case discussions, we wish to offer an international celebration of this landmark guide for extending the art of healing.

We look forward to welcoming you to this event!

We are excited to announce that registration for The Arc of Becoming: Medical and Pedagogical Support in the First Phase of Life is now open.

The conference has been co-created by members of the Medical Section and the Pedagogical Section, and we look forward to welcoming teachers, practitioners and other interested parties to Spring Valley, NY, from August 6-10, 2025.

We appreciate your help spreading the word within your circles and look forward to seeing many of you at this important in-person conference.

Adam Blanning will facilitate the conference keynote lectures, bringing two disciplines together in the keynote sessions: medicine and midwifery in the first session, midwifery and education in the second, and education and medicine in the final keynote session. Karin Michael will speak about spiritual and medical embryology; Johanna Hünig will talk about pregnancy, birth, and life through the first year; and Debbie Laurin will talk about life from 12 months to three years. Together, these presentations will weave a picture of how a spiritual space is created that fills as a child grows and forms in the womb, then enters and fills the space that a loving environment can provide from family members, caregivers, and the broader community.

We will have workshops from many different streams to dive deeper into this critical time from all different perspectives. Throughout the conference, we will have space for artistic work together, small group child study, and case discussions. We hope to weave together the pedagogical and medical perspectives to deepen all our work and create space to more fully welcome today's incoming children.

Visit our conference website or reach out to care1conference@gmail.com with any questions.

    Warmly,

Christa Lynch, on behalf of the Care 1 2025 Steering Group

Conference on Understanding and Cultivating the "I"

    September 6-7, 2025

Editor’s Note: Witsun News from the Medical Section, including announcement of the international annual conference of the Medical Section at the Goetheanum from 9–14 September! 'Extending the Art of Healing – Etheric Forces as Forces for the Future':

    Dear Friends,

Eight years ago, we held our last conference on spiritual issues in anthroposophic nursing. Nursing itself is a spiritual path that is probably not easy to find in our time. Anthroposophy aims to guide people toward a peaceful future as a gift and a challenge. Today, nursing requires more than goodwill and compassion. It needs a power that permeates and acts through the eyes and hands so that a battered body, an exhausted soul, or a powerless spirit can find the courage to rise again.

This power arises when the “I“ recognizes itself. Ita Wegman gave nurses the task of developing the “I” as an exercise and perspective for the day ahead. Karl König in the Camphill communities pointed out the importance of the lower senses. For Gerhard Kienle, the mantra “to gain the I” was at the core of collaboration in anthroposophical hospitals.

We cordially invite you to this two-part conference in the year marking the 100th anniversary of anthroposophical nursing training.

We will begin with work on the last three class lessons and continue the meditative work on Saturday evening and Sunday on the theme of “Becoming I.” Please bring the blue card with you for the class lessons.

The second part of the conference does not require membership in the first class. However, it can contribute to its understanding. It is about caring for the “I.” We want to engage in practical meditative exercises as well as Christological questions.

Both conferences will be consecutively translated into English. The talk in the first class and the exploratory exchange on mantras and the “I am” words will be in English and German.

We look forward to your participation.

    Registration

The registration deadline is September 1, 2025.

The participation fee is CHF 45/EUR per conference, excluding meals. Refreshments during breaks are included.

The participation fee is payable on site. You will receive confirmation after registering. If you have any questions, please contact Rolf Heine. (rolf.heine@medsektion-goetheanum.ch)

Please register here for the School for Spiritual Science and Conference on Understanding and Cultivating the “I” events.

    Monday, 8 September / Wednesday, 10 September 2025

    ICANA Annual Conference

    Thursday, 11 September 2025

    Dear IFAN colleagues,

We are happy to invite you to the IFAN Conference, organized as a pre-conference to the Medical Section Annual Conference. Over the course of 3 ½ days, we will address essential issues concerning the anthroposophic nursing profession. During this time, we will not only commemorate the 100th year anniversary of the first nursing course in Arlesheim but also focus on the needs and future perspectives of Anthroposophy within the fields of nursing.

Additionally, we will be faced with the important task of finding a new way to coordinate the worldwide anthroposophic nursing movement, as Rolf will resign in September 2026. We plan to discuss this based on a proposal from the steering committee.

The most important goal of our gathering is a warm and future oriented mood of spiritual community building that can radiate into our daily nursing practice.

We hope that many of you will be able to attend the IFAN Conference (September 8th to 10th) and the Conference of Spiritual Deepening, taking place from September the 5th to 7th —and, of course, the Medical Section Annual Conference.

The main language of the conference will be English. Your contributions can be given in your mother language and will be translated, as well as English contributions that were not understood.

Please register here for the IFAN Annual Conference (September 8-10) AND the ICANA Annual Conference (September 11)
